Lucknow: In a vibrant initiative to showcase Lucknow’s historical and cultural grandeur, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has inaugurated a spectacular Light and Sound Show at the iconic Lucknow Residency complex. The immersive show aims to acquaint visitors with the city’s glorious past, its architectural splendor, and its pivotal role in India’s freedom movement.
The captivating presentation brings alive the rich heritage of Lucknow—its traditional cuisine, cultural pride, tales of valour, and the unforgettable episodes from the First War of Independence of 1857. The show, organized every evening from 6 PM, will be open free of cost for the initial days, after which a nominal entry fee will be introduced to allow more tourists to experience it.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said the show not only narrates the historical significance of the Residency but also recreates the struggles and bravery of revolutionaries who shaped India’s freedom movement. “Through this initiative, we aim to connect every generation—especially children—with history in an engaging and educational way,” he added.

The Residency, with its bullet-riddled walls and cannon marks, still stands as a silent witness to the valor and sacrifices of 1857. Through the use of modern light, sound, and projection technologies, the show revives those defining moments of courage and patriotism that laid the foundation of India’s independence.
This initiative by the Tourism Department represents a visionary blend of heritage preservation and tourism promotion, breathing new life into one of Lucknow’s most significant landmarks. The Light and Sound Show stands as a tribute to the city’s glorious legacy—invoking pride, patriotism, and a renewed appreciation of its timeless cultural spirit.
